Majority in Poll Want Obama to Nominate Scalia Successor

Fifty-eight percent of Americans said in a new CNN/ORC poll they’d like for President Obama to nominate a Supreme Court successor to Justice Antonin Scalia, while 41 percent would prefer the seat be left vacant until a new president occupies the White House.

When asked whether the Republican leadership should hold hearings on a nominee picked by Obama, 66 percent said yes, and 32 percent no, according to the poll.

At Huffington Post, the president of Earth Justice, Trip van Noppen, wrote, “Senators Put Politics Above People in Obstructing Supreme Court Nominee.”
